The rate at which Indian companies are announcing new dual SIM phones is mind-boggling. While mainstream manufacturers are yet to fully take the plunge when it comes to introducing low cost, dual SIM handsets, smaller companies like Micromax, G’Five and Wynncom are on a constant handset releasing spree.
The latest dual SIM devices to arrive in the Indian market are the Wynncom Y90 and the Y99. Wynn Telecom is targeting the youngsters in the country with these new phones.
Lets now take a look at these phones to check what they have on offer for you:
We start with the Y99 which seems to be slightly better specced of the two.
This phone comes pre-installed with the 160by2.com mobile application using which users can send send free SMS to Indian and international numbers. Note that International SMS’ works only for UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines. On the hardware front, it boasts of an entry level 2 megapixel camera and an MP3 player. Connectivity options are limited to Bluetooth and USB.
The phone supports expandable memory and can take microSD cards of up to 8GB. It is powered by a fairly powerful 1050 mAh battery that offers 7 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time. The Y99 costs Rs.3895
The Y90 on the other hand comes with a scaled down 1.3 megapixel camera as well as a “motion sensor” that allows users to change wallpapers and songs by simply shaking the device. It also has a basic MP3 and a video player. Connectivity options are the same as that of the Y99- bluetooth and USB. It supports up to 4GB of memory using microSD cards.
One area where the Y90 betters the Y99 is when it comes to the battery. Thanks to the larger 1400mAH battery on the Y90, it offers a much longer standby time of 350 hrs and talktime capacity of 8.5 hrs. The Y90 is Rs.1000 cheaper than the Y99 and is priced at Rs. 2895.
