One of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, Fable III, for the Xbox 360 has now been officially launched. And what’s uncommonly amusing is that its global coincides with its Indian one, in keeping with Microsoft’s recent policy of simultaneous launches of gaming goodies (remember Halo Reach?!). The game promises its usual mixture of role-playing, adventure and stacks of action, delivered of course, with extremely high class graphics and that increasingly rare gaming commodity, a compelling storyline. And praise is the hero is no longer silent but actually yaks with those around him/her.
Like its predecessors, the game is based in the fictional country of Albion and takes place five decades after the end of Fable 2. The kingdom is facing a crisis, (as usual) and you have to save the day (as usual). You can rise from revolutionary to being ruler of Albion (check out the lad with the gun reaching out for the crown on the cover!) and of course, in best Fable tradition, every decision you make will have consequences that will vary from the simple to the cataclysmic and let you venture on the light and dark side with equal elan. Heck, this is a Peter Molyneux game, after all.
Needless to say, we have positive expectations and are waiting for our review copy with bated breath and poised gamepads. Watch this space for a review. Oh, and no news of the PC version of the game – we are keeping our eyes peeled for that one.
