OnePlus has been releasing news about the latest features of its next flagship. The latest smartphone by the company will be launched no 27th of July. OnePlus has a different promotion strategy from the rest. The features are unveiled one by one, earlier the features like Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC, and USB Type-C port were announced. The latest addition in the features is the fingerprint sensor.
The Chinese smartphone maker boasts that the OnePlus 2’s fingerprint sensor is faster than Apple’s iPhone Touch ID sensor. OnePlus announced in a blog post that With the OnePlus 2, the fingerprint sensor is done right. It’s refined and lightning quick, unlocking your device faster than Touch ID. The average person checks their phone over 200 times per day. If you spend just three seconds inputting a PIN number or pattern, that’s over an hour of your time gone each week.
As soon as the announcement was made, many questions were raised. Many asked, if the company has developed an advance technology then, why was it not used in the OnePlus One varient. The chinese firm told that, it decided not to use the technology on the OnePlus One as it was only in its “concept” stage then, and was most of the times “inaccurate”. The entire process was also time consuming as compared to manual password method.
OnePlus believes that smartphone is anyone’s most personal device, and its security should be personal, too. As the firm quotes “one of the fastest sensors on the market”, it will navigate the OnePlus 2 users quickly onto the handset’s home screen. Another feature of this sensor is, that the smartphone will be able to save up to five fingerprint profiles.
Speculations are made about the positioning of the sensor, if leaked images are to be believed then the sensor lies below the rear camera.
OnePlus 2 will be available at a price higher than Rs 20,500.
