Fujifilm has announced the launch of two new compact digital cameras in India. The models that are having been launched include the F500 EXR and the slightly higher end F600 EXR. Both the models were originally announced back in April 2011. Back then, the company had launched as many as 12 new models in the Indian market. These two new models will expand the portfolio of the company in India.
As for the features on these models, this EXR lineup can claim the trophy for being the first compact cameras from Fujifilm to incorporate GPS sensors. The GPS capability was first introduced on the EXR 550 which made its international debut earlier this year as a successor to the original EXR 500. And now, the EXR 600 has been launched with a few more tweaks. Note that the EXR500 doesn’t get the GPS chip and the Landmark Navigator feature that the EXR 600 comes packed with.
These cameras can capture images upto 16 megapixels in size and boasts of a BSI CMOS sensor – instead of the traditional Super CCD sensors usually found on Fujifilm compacts. The 15x optical zoom should keep you content under most normal circumstances. At the back, there is a vivid 3 inch display that lets you preview your photos and also throws in tell tale information. Other notable features include the capability to capture videos in full HD at 30 fps, face detection and a host of other modes.
The F500EXR has been priced at Rs. 18,999 while the F600EXR will cost you slightly more at Rs. 19,888. You might as well consider these two if you are on the lookout for a decently spec’d compact camera.
