Popular music streaming service Gaana’s site was hacked today. The hack supposedly leaked out login credentials of all Gaana users. A hacker called ‘MakMan’ from Lahore, Pakistan has taken responsibility for the hack and claims that he can access all details of users by entering their email ID. The site is currently down and the officials are trying their best to do damage control.
Times Internet CEO, Satyan Gajwani the most interesting part of the hack is Satyan’s damage management skills. Rather than slamming the hacker, he lauded his efforts to find the bug. In fact, Satyan replied to Mak Man’s Facebook post about the hack by appreciating his efforts to bring out security issues and even offered him a job at the company. Surprisingly, the supposed hacker even replied back and took down the page which was exposing user information. You don’t get to see such situations every day.
Satyan has officially tweeted that the situation is under control and the engineers are working to get the site up and running soon. Gaana has reset passwords for all its user so if you have a login for the service then you will have to change your password.
Gaana is owned by Times Internet and is a big player in the music streaming services in India. Their arch rival is Saavn who also offers similar services at the same cost.
