It may be one of the most popular browsers on the Web, but its latest version has arrived almost unheralded compared with the fanfare that accompanies its competitors. Google has released the latest version of its Chrome browser, Chrome 8. According to the post on the Google Chrome Releases blog – which carries the heading “Stable, beta channel updates” – the new browser has more than 800 bug fixes and stability improvements, and also now comes with a “built in PDF viewer that is secured in Chrome’s sandbox.”
That may not sound like a lot, but a number of experts are saying that the new browser actually has better support for Web Apps, signaling the impending arrival of a Google Web App Store for not just the Chrome browser, but for the Chrome OS, which is being expected later this month. Of course, not being coding experts, we cannot really comment on that, but we must confess to being REALLY intrigued at the low-profile announcement of the new browser. Not that it has stopped us from downloading it.
