Following the opening of exclusive “Android Nation” brick and mortar stores in Indonesia, Google is looking to strengthen its Android presence in India by following the same strategy. Google has partnered with Spice Global and will soon set up “Android Nation” stores across the nation – the first of which will be in New Delhi.
Android Nation stores would be positioned as a one spot location where it would act as an experience center for Android after which users can “graduate” to buying an Android cellphone of their choice.
The stores will house Android devices manufactured by all major Android vendors including the likes of Samsung, HTC, Sony, LG and the rest. The stores would also offer service and make available software updates to users and would also employ staff that would be “experts” at Android and help users with their issues.
It is pertinent to note that India is only the second country after Indonesia to get these exclusive Android Nation stores – a clear indication of how important this market is for Google. One reason for Google to be interested in the opening of these brick and mortar stores is the fact that consumers in India have a tendency to touch and feel a product they intend to buy – before they actually decide to splurge. Also, with Google’s competitors already having ample brick and mortar stores, it was time they too jumped onto the bandwagon.
