HCL Infosystems has unveiled the latest range of its affordable HCL ME tablets in the country yesterday. The new models include the HCL ME U2, HCL ME V1 and the HCL ME Y3. The prces of these tablets range from Rs.5999 to Rs.11,999. The company also roped in cricketer Unmukt Chand, the U-19 Indian cricket team skipper who led the team to victory in the ICC U-19 World Cup 2012 as brand ambassador for these tablets.
Let’s now take a closer look at these three models. We start with the ME Y3 which is claimed to be best available device in its price range. This tablet packs in a 1 Ghz Cortex A9 CPU, Built-in GPS & FM Radio and a mini HDMI Port. The device also gets Dual SIM capability which HCL claims which none of the closest competitors has.
Next up is the HCL ME V1 which HCL is a pure Phablet device with integrated voice receiver and integrated call vibrate option and built in EDGE Data support. The ME V1 boasts of dual camera, built in proximity sensor and 1 GB DDR3 RAM. Under the hood is a large 3200 mAH Li-Po Battery.
The most expensive of the lot and the most feature packed tablet is the ME U2 which packs in a 1 Ghz Cortex A9 SoC, 1 GB DDR3 RAM, Full HD video support and a mini HDMI port.
All these tablets come preloaded with apps that include Big-Flix, Cleartrip, LinkedIn, NimBuzz, Twitter and Facebook. HCL also plan to offer MyEduWorld software in a 1+1 combo offer.
