The Honor 9 Youth Edition was officially unveiled in China yesterday as a lower-end version of the Honor 9 that was made official in June this year. Here is all the information on its specifications, features and pricing.
Design, Display and Cameras
The Honor 9 Youth Edition is a full screen design phone that features 2.5D curved glass panels on its front and rear. It can be availed in four color options such as Blue, Gray, Black and White. It measures 151 x 71.9 x 7.6mm and weighs 149 grams. It houses a 5.65-inch FHD+ resolution supporting IPS LCD panel that produces an aspect ratio of 18:9.
The rear side of the smartphone is equipped with a dual lens system that includes a 13-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor. The same camera setup is available on the front side of the Honor 9 Youth Edition. Both cameras offer wide range of features such as bokeh effect shots, panorama, HDR, slow-motion video shooting and more.
Performance and Other Features
The Kirin 659 chipset powers the Honor 9 Youth Edition. This same SoC can be also found under the hood of other full screen smartphones by Honor such as Honor 7X and Honor 9i. It comes in RAM choices of 3 GB and 4 GB and storage options like 32 GB and 64 GB. The handset is fueled by 3,000mAh battery.
It is running on EMUI 8.0 that is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. It is equipped with various other features such as Read Mode, Dynamic Wallpaper and 3D audio technology by Huawei. The connectivity features available on the Honor 9 Youth Edition include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB-C and GPS. The phone lacks support for NFC and 4G+.
Pricing and Availability
Honor has started receiving the registrations of the Honor 9 Youth Edition on Huawei Mall. It is also available for registrations on other Chinese retailer sites. As far as the pricing is concerned, the base model having 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage is priced at 1,199 Yuan (~Rs. 11,669). The 4 GB RAM variant feature 32 GB of storage carries a price tag of 1,499 Yuan (~Rs. 14,589). The highest configuration model featuring 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage can be availed for 1,799 Yuan (~Rs. 17,509). it will be going on sale beginning from 26th December.
Honor has confirmed that the Honor 9 Youth Edition will be released in 14 other countries which includes India, the U.K and Russia. It is speculated that the smartphone would be releasing with Honor 9 Lite moniker in other markets.
