Desire HD was recently updated, though the update did not include Gingerbread, it updated the Hboot to 1.72.405.3 which cannot be rooted nor can it be flashed with a custom recovery image. So if you are using the Desire HD and if yo want to flash the new sense 3.0 ROM or root the device then you can follow this guide.
Note:
- This will downgrade the Hboot of the device
- Branded device will need to create a gold card
- This will enable you to Root your device
Requirements:
Procedure:
- Download Downgrade.zip and save the folder at a place where you can easily access it
- Enable USB mode on your Desire HD (Setting > Application > Development > Tick USB debugging)
- Open cmd prompt
- Navigate to the Download folder you had just downloaded
- Enter the following code in the cmd prompt and hit enter after each line
adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell
- Now enter:
cd /data/local/tmp
./misc_version -s 1.31.405.6
- Now put PD98IMG.zip in the root of the SD card
- Now reboot into bootloader by holding power down and power
- Remove PD98IMG.zip from SD card
