HP Slate Goes Corporate, Launches For USD 800

Remember the HP Slate? The tablet first seen at CES 2010 with Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer proudly showing it off with a smile on his face as if he has owned Apple for ever! 9 months and 6 million iPads later, we finally have an official glimpse of the HP Slate running the Windows 7. Well not just a glimpse, you’d be able to own one real soon. And by unusually soon, we do actually mean Very soon.

Much water has flown under the bridge since the first time we heard of it. The Tablets market has changed considerably and more importantly, Apple has entered the arena with its iPad and has been doing pretty well. Other players like Samsung, Asus and even RIM is now considering entering the arena with their own tablets.
Keeping all that in mind, and the fact that the HP owned Palm currently in  thinking tablets, HP changed strategies and had launched the Slate as an enterprise product

Specs?

Well how does a 8.9 inch screen a .68 kg weight, VGA webcam, 3 Megapixel camera and support for WLAN sound? Under the hood, there is a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 processor with 2GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD. It will be available first in the U.S. and then “evaluated for further market expansion”, which we read as – “Wait for the webOS tablet”.

It would be priced at $799 and includes the HP Slate Digital Pen, HP Slate Dock, and HP Slate Portfolio.
