Battery Recalls From HP Continues

HP had been facing problems with their Lithium-ion Laptop batteries produced in China and had to arrange for massive recalls in 2009 and 2010 due to the problems of overheating and the subsequent risks of the laptop catching fire.

Seems like the issue has not yet been resolved completely and HP is going to organize a recall again for the laptop batteries, which has been confirmed by HP along-with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission this Friday.

The recall can be for upto 162,600 additional batteries manufactured in China. We aren’t sure if HP would take the hit for this or its suppliers would, but the batteries which were used in a few select models of HP lineup, viz HP Compaq, Compaq Evo, Compaq Presario, HP and HP Pavillion  are being recalled for now.

As a commitment to quality and consumer safety, HP has proactively notified all of its consumers and will replace all of the verified affected battery packs. HP has added additional battery packs and also one notebook model series to the list of affected laptops, so in case your machine was a part of the previous recall, you need to get yours verified and validated once again.
