Although HP themselves demoed their 9.7″ tablet, they made the people wait a long time before they launched it. It seems the press has already started waiting for a new tablet by HP with rumors starting to fly around.
As per reports coming in from the Taiwanese Economic News, HP might soon come up with a 7″ tablet around August. The news is based on the info that Inventec Corp., a subcontracted firm by HP for manufacturing their tablets, has received orders from them to ship around 400,000 and 450,000 tablets per month of 9.7″ & 7″ respectively. Rumors doing the rounds also indicate that Inventec will be shipping 3 million tablets within this year itself.HP has tried its hands on the tablet market last year with the HP Slate, (running Windows) and it didn’t actually fly. With Palm’s acquisition, they have acquired WebOS which has interested the industry and is in race to get the third spot in the mobile platforms race. With a 9.7? TouchPad HP is taking a shot at the iPad and numerous Android tablets, having a 7? version goes along with the initial rumors and presents webOS to a much larger user base (read the case in favor of a 7″ tablet). But for HP to truly gain traction with consumers a 3G/4G version for both its offerings is a must, we would keenly wait to hear an update on that front.
