HTC Desire 626G+ Fails To Impress At Rs.16,900

HTC has added a new variant to the already popular Desire lineup in India. The new smartphone is called the HTC Desire 626G+ and sports an octa core SoC as one of the main attractions. HTC had earlier launched the One M9+ and One E9+ in China this week.  The HTC Desire 626 G+ is another version of the recently launched Desire 626.

The smartphone features a 5-inch q-HD screen with 720p resolution. The Desire 626G+ is powered by a 1.7 Ghz octa core processor which should be more than capable to handle whatever you throw at it. The Desire 626G+ has 1GB of RAM which falls short of our expectations. The smartphone packs in a 13-megapixel primary camera with BFI sensor, apart from a 5-mgepixel front-facing camera with the same sensor. Both the cameras support full-HD video recording.

HTC has just put 8 GB of internal storage with support for expandable external memory via microSD card. The internal memory of 8 GB is too inadequate at this price tag. Another area where HTC has lagged is the battery on the Desire 626G as the phone comes with only 2000 mAh of non-removable battery which will hardly last through the day. The Desire 626G+ offers only 3G connectivity with no support for LTE. Other connectivity options like Bluetooth, WiFi and microUSB are pretty standard. The smartphone is available in Blue Lagoon and White Birch color variants.

HTC has clearly cut some corners with this phone. At this price, the small 2000 mAh battery, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal memory prove to be its biggest drawbacks. After all, phones like Xiaomi Mi Note, Microsoft Lumia 640  and Moto G (2nd Gen) offer better specs at a smaller price tag.
