LG stole the limelight with glasses-free 3D smartphone Optimus 3D and G-Slate tablet at the Mobile World Congress 2011 last month. Both devices certainly got LG competitors thinking and working up on a rival devices. BoyGeniusReport claims to have been tipped with exclusive information about US Carrier Sprint’s announcements at the CTIA Wireless 2011 event that kick-starts on March 21. According to BGR, Sprint would be launching two devices along with HTC at the convention. Let’s have a quick look on these details.
First is the HTC EVO 3D smartphone that is like an extension of HTC’s EVO 4G. The new EVO 3D as name suggests will have auto-stereoscopic 3D which means you won’t have to use glasses to enjoy 3D on it. That would be possible with twin 5 megapixel cameras at the back to offer the 3D recording on the phone. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera at the front for video calls and video chat. This HTC smartphone is said to have 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon family processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM for storage. The original report states 4GB RAM and 1GB ROM which is quite unlikely and hence I prefer to look at it as vice versa.
HTC EVO 3D will have big 4.3-inch touchscreen display supporting qHD (960×540) pixel resolution. By default the EVO 3D will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense UI fixed on it. HTC has added HDMI port to source out the 1080p HD videos and 720p HD 3D videos to a larger display. For longer run time, HTC will add 1730mAh battery to EVO 3D. Apart from YouTube 3D App, this smartphone will also have Blockbuster 3D on demand App. Quite obvious that this smartphone would be HTC and Sprint’s center of attention at the CTIA 2011 event.
Next in Sprint-HTC’s bag is EVO View 4G Tablet that will have aluminum body design just like the HTC Flyer tablet. New EVO View 4G tabler will have 7-inch display supporting 1024×600 pixel resolution, 5 megapixel camera at the rear and 1.3 megapixel camera in the front. This tablet will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sence UI over it and will support HTC Scribe technology with optional pen (stylus) support. HTC will pack massive 4000mAh battery for longer run time and will have HDMI port to plug it with larger display.
This update surely will get some brownie points for HTC but will the new EVO 3D and EVO View 4G tablet be available outside US? We’ll find that out at Sprint or HTC announcements at the CTIA Wireles 2011. So stay glued for updates.
