In yet another addition to the growing number of Android powered tablets that has been announced of late, HTC has launched its first tablet at the on going MWC at Barcelona. Called the “Flyer”, this is one gets a 7 inch, 1024*600 pixel display, a 1.5 Ghz singe core Processor, 1 GB of RAM and 32GB of on board memory. The Flyer when launched in Q2, 2011 would run Android 2.4, (a version of Gingerbread). The Flyer also gets HTC’s Sense UI running atop the Android core. This though is a tablet specific version of the same.
Other features include a 5 Megapixel camera at the rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera for Video calls in the front. Connectivity options include WLAN, Bluetooth 3.0 a 3.5 mm jack for headphones and a microUSB pin connector for USB connectivity. The tablet is 3G capable with support for HSPA and WCDMA networks.
Strangely, HTC ships a stylus with this one even though the display is capacitive in nature. This stylus would be used for handwriting recognition and note taking… so no need to worry!
In all, this tablet seems to be a rather low key entry in to the tablets space by HTC especially when most other manufacturers are concentrating on 10 plus inch tablets running Honeycomb.
