With a slew of high end Android launches of late, I am sure you might have forgotten about the HTC Legend – HTC’s mid range Android smartphone released earlier this year. Well here’s some fantastic news for all you Legend users out there. The phone is finally about to receive a well deserved update to Android 2.2. News about the update was revealed by none other than HTC themselves in the form of a tweet from one of their Twitter accounts.
The update would first arrive to Legend users in Europe. While most of us would loved to have seen a direct jump to Gingerbread, looks like that won’t be happening to most Android devices stuck on older versions of the OS.
The HTC Legend would now finally get full support for a full flash 10.1 compatible browser and a host of other Froyo goodies including memory and performance optimizations, the V8 JavaScript engine from Chrome, further Microsoft Exchange components, USB and Wi-Fi tethering, and not to mention, the ability to install apps on memory cards.
Another mid range handset, the Wildfire too would be getting the same treatment soon – but no dates as yet.
