HTC’s high end handset, the One S was initially slated to get the much talked about update to Android 4.1 JellyBean sometime back in October. That however was obviously delayed. HTC’s flagship device, the One X however did get the same and it seems the One S owners out there can finally rejoice. Starting yesterday, unlocked HTC One S owners across Europe and Asia have started receiving updates to JellyBean.
As expected, this update endows the handset with a bunch of performance and visual enhancements. It now also gets Google Now – which debuted with JellyBean earlier this year. Apart from this, the phone also gets the subtle interface changes and not to mention, expanded notifications.
If you are not aware, Google Now will let you access relevant information that it deems is important to you according to your daily routine. For example, if you are a daily commuter, Google Now will present you with the relevant data – like traffic conditions and the weather outside so that you are automatically presented with information that is relevant to you. If you have a meeting scheduled at a location, it will remind you a few minutes (or a few hours) before its start depending on the distance between your current location and the location of the meeting – all based on the current traffic conditions. Pretty neat, I guess?
Coming back to the update, as of now this is only available for unlocked versions of the One S. If you have an unlocked One S lying around, you might want to try doing a manual update and let us know if the update has indeed arrived.
