The Facebook phone has long been rumored and, we have discussed everything from a Facebook OS to Facebook guided hardware before. This time around its HTC that is being rumored to be cooking up a couple of Facebook phones for an MWC launch. The pair is said to be in development along with Facebook itself, and one of these is said to be sporting a full QWERTY keyboard. According to the rumor the phone would integrate Facebook chat, voice calling and also use Facebooks color scheme and branding.
The OS is said to be modified versions of Android and that’s quite possible given the open source nature of Android. Another thing to be noted is the fact that Google’s Nexus One buddy HTC is not left in the cold with Motorola doing the Honeycomb tablet and Samsung doing the Gingerbread powered Nexus S. Why wouldn’t HTC tie up with Google’s arch rival Facebook?
Leaving aside the rumor, we do feel that its sensible for someone like HTC to be working on a Facebook phone. Facebook has over 500 million subscribers and there are many die hard Facebook addicts out there to help HTC ship out a few million of these phones easily. What I would be interested in seeing here is the Facebook games integration on these handhelds!
