HTC announced it’s first Facebook phones Salsa and Chacha at MWC, these phones come with a physical button for sharing your status updates, music or photos on Facebook. Not, that these phones flew off the shelf in millions, but as HTC enters China with Salsa, there is a change. Apparently China has banned Facebook and Twitter and local social sites rule in China.
So here is what HTC does to Salsa, it integrates a Weibo button instead of Facebook. Weibo is referred as China’s Twitter or you may refer to it as the Facebook+Twitter of China. HTC Salsa is an Android (v2.2.3) phone that packs in an 800 MHz processor, 5MP camera, 512MB RAM, HTC Sense UI 2.1 and the usual HTC design with a chin:)
HTC chose the world leader in social networking Facebook for a global launch, but, in China they have to accommodate the local favorite. Weibo is said to have over 150 million users in China. You can read our HTC Salsa Review, just remember to replace Facebook with Weibo if you are in China 🙂
With increasing social momentum from Google, we wonder if it’s G+Android for the future?
