Huawei, the Chinese electronics and cellular major had showcased its Android powered smartphone, the Ascend P1 S at the CES last month. The phone, which claims the title of being the slimmest smartphone ever measures just 6.68mm at its thickest – which would make even the Droid RAZR feel bloated.
The Ascend P1 boasts of some impressive specs too. We are talking about a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960*540 pixels. Powering the device is a Dualcore ARM Cortex A9 based processor chugging along at a cool 1.5 GHz. The graphics on the phone is handled by a PowerVR SGX540 chipset. There is 1GB of RAM as well as 4GB of ROM. The internal memory can be expanded using micro SD cards.
The Ascend P1 S is the slimmer version of Huawei’s second offering from the Ascend lineup. The other phone is the similar looking Ascend P1 which is slightly thicker at just over 7.5mm thick. Both the phones sport similar features though.
The Ascend P1 S boasts of an 1800 mAH battery which we believe should do a reasonable admirable job at keeping the device powered for the most part of the day. If you are a heavy user though, you might have to lug around a charger – or a separate battery.
The phone runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and comes with a host of connectivity options including Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, 3G and micro USB. According to a recent report by IBN Live, the device is expected to land in India by July 2012.
