Combining the stability of a Chopper and the efficiency of an aeroplane, the Humminger concept had won the Stage-I of DRDO Students Competition in 2008 ranking amongst top 10 of 272 teams across India. With constant improvements made to the design the Humminger 3.0 was showcased at VJTI’s annual fest – Technovanza. Humminger is a concept that can form an amazing unmanned surveillance aircraft.
Rishikesh Karande is a proud engineer. Yesterday his brain child – “Humminger 3.0” took probably its last flight in his presence at VJTI. A last year student, Rishikesh would certainly love to see his colleagues built better and bigger marvels for the industry to applaud, while he gears up for his life with Volkswagen India.
The original Humminger design from its early days has progressed pretty well (thanks to the DRDO funding of Rs 50000) and we are already excited by the plans VJTIians have for Technovanza 2011. We had the opportunity to shoot an exclusive video of Humminger 3.0. Though the flight didn’t live up to the Blackbirds we have seen at Techfest, the Humminger would be an inspiration for VJTI students for years to come.
