Its a double treat for us this year, CES 2011 collides with Asia’s Biggest Science and Technology Festival at IIT B – The Techfest. We are the official online media partners for the IIT Techfest again and our team is already at IIT Bombay. Over the course of the next three days, get ready for some super cool robowars, technoholix nights and super scientific exhibitions.
If you’re still wondering what Techfest is all about, let us give you all a brief idea about the same. To start with, we would need to go back in time a bit. The first iteration of Techfest kicked off 14 years ago – back in 1998. The intention was to provide a platform for the engineers and scientists of the country to share and spread their ideas. Over the years the festival took a conscious turn to also undertake a bunch of social, developmental and environmental causes.
Fast forward to 2011 and Techfest has today become the largest Science and Technology Festival in Asia. To give you a scale of how things have grown, Techfest as of now reaches out to over 70,000 students across 2100 colleges and around 5000 corporates in India. The events in this 14th edition of Techfest includes competitions, exhibitions, lectures and workshops.
The highlight of this years Techfest are the lectures by eminent personalities. Some of the people who would be addressing young audiences here include Google’s Michael Jones – the company’s Chief Technology Advocate, Jaap Haartsen, the inventor of the now ubiquitous Bluetooth wireless technology as well as K.S Pua, the inventor of the USB Pen Drive. The exhibitions too would be interesting (as always!) with a host of new technologies on display. Gaming fans might want to take a look at the Microsoft Kinect that we hear would be displayed.

We at Onlygizmos are already here at the venue and would be covering the event in depth along with the CES. Our coverage starts early morning tomorrow as soon as the events kicks of early morning.
