IIT Techfest 2010 Day 1 – Action begins

IIT Techfest 2010 is bigger than ever before, and the Day 1 is full of addictive enthusiasm and amazing energy. Enough for the 6 member OG team to skip lunch and keep hunting for this exclusive footage that we are uploading since morning. By far the highest crowd drawer is the lecture by Dr Ajay Bhatt, the co-inventor of the USB (such was the response from the audience that he had to give back to back lectures) and the ISRO / NDMA (National Defense Management Authority) exhibitions. Not to forget the astounding Heli rescue demo by Natural Disaster Rescue Force.

Competitions:

Full Throttle: With a new track and a new challenge each year the mini grand prix at the IIT Techfest gets even more interesting. Full throttle Inferno requires the participants to build a mini remote controlled car with an IC engine. The car has to race on a mud track with twist, turns and climb bridges. The fastest car wins, but it ain’t as easy as it looks. Getting the car to complete the track itself is a monumental challenge. We saw some exceptionally excellent performances. Robowars:

Every year the noisiest and the most excited crowd is found surrounding the SOM well at IIT B cheering for Robo wars. The big and mighty robots collide in a glass chamber with just one motto – destroy the opponent. 5 mins and the one that survives till the end, killing all opponents is the winner!

Pack Man:

Played the Packman on PC? Now play it in a real life maze!

Exhibitions:

The main highlight of the IIT Techfest exhibitions is the ISRO missiles and the NDMA (Natural Disaster Management Authority). You can watch exclusive videos and photos of the entire exhibition belt at the Techfest 2010 here. (coming soon)

The internal exhibitions showcasing the hardwork and innovations of the research students of the IITians is breathtaking. Its full of green concepts which has impressed us so much that we have decided to do a detailed coverage for them after the event is over.

M.A.D Mountbike Stunts:

Some of the co-ordinators (read girls) have confessed to us that they find these guys hot. But trust me after you see them perform even you would fall for them and they will surely have your jaws dropping. Luckily we had the opportunity to watch all of their final practice session and let me tell you its truly stunning.
