The folks at Olive Telecom do seem to have a habit of being on the front foot as far as 3G enabled gadgets that are not phones go. Not too long ago, they were the first in India with a notebook with inbuilt 3G connectivity and now it seems that they are going to be the first in the country to come out with a 3G-enabled tablet. The device is to be launched on Thursday, if the invitation in our mailboxes is right.
Yes, it ain’t the iPad, but you cannot blame us for being all a-quiver with excitement at the news. Especially given the fact that Olive have a reputation for coming with devices that are high on features and low on price – their 3G netbook had a decent configuration, ran Windows XP and cost less than Rs 15,000. Yes, we have high hopes of Thursday.
