Intex has announced the launch of a new 7 inch Android powered tablet in Tamil Nadu. Known as the Intex i-Buddy, the tablet is claimed to have been designed keeping the youth in mind. The device is just 9 mm thin – which is its claim for being the slimmest tablet in India.
The i-Buddy tablets runs on Android 4.0 and there is an unknown processor running at 1 Ghz – under the hood. Supporting the processor is 512 MB of RAM which we believe is more than sufficient for normal multitasking. The tablet boasts of a 7 inch capacitive display with five point multi touch capability.
The i-Buddy supports memory cards of up to 32 GB and also sports a full sized USB port. You can use 3G dongle to connect to the Internet using this port. There is a front facing camera on the device as well which can be used for video chatting purposes using Skype.
The tablet also comes loaded with a host of preloaded games including popular titles like Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja. The device supports Internet connectivity through GPRS and Wi-Fi. There is a social networking Hub known as Intex Zone as well. Another notable application is TeamViewer which lets users control their PC’s remotely right from their tablet.
The i-Buddy tips the scales at just 316 grams and comes with 1 year warranty. It is currently available only in Tamil Nadu with a launch expected in other South Indian states in the next few weeks. A pan India launch is expected in the coming months.
The tablet is priced at Rs. Rs 6,490. As an introductory offer, Intex has bundled i-Buddy with a leather cover with attached keyboard. The MRP of this accessory is Rs. 2590 which is being provided to i-Buddy consumers at no extra cost.
