Homegrown mobilephone manufacturer Intex has just announced the launch of yet another low cost, affordable handset in India. The new device, called the “Aura” happens to be dual SIM enabled (as the case is with most other Intex handsets) and packs in a lot of features for its sub 2k price. Let’s see what Rs.1690 can buy you these days.
To start with, the Aura features a 240*320 pixel (QVGA) display that sounds decent considering the price. Intex hasn’t clarified the screen size yet – but from what we can garner, it seems to measure 2.4 inches across. The phone like we mentioned, can hold two SIM cards and both the SIM cards offer EDGE connectivity. As expected, there is no support for 3G networks.
What it does get however is a camera that can take pictures at 1.3 megapixels. The ability to capture videos however has been disabled. It can however playback videos downloaded from other sources. Like with most handsets in its price range, the Aura too supports FM Radio. You can in fact even record live FM Radio broadcasts.
If you intend to do lot of such recordings, you might require memory cards because the internal memory is too low to hold them all. Intex confirms that the Aura supports micro SD cards of up to 16GB in size – which for most practical purposes should suffice for this handset. Apart from these, the phone comes preloaded with a bunch of games. There is a music player thrown in as well so that you don’t get easily bored of the device.
The highlight of the handset however is its battery. This one features a 1800 mAH battery that endows it with a talktime of 5 hours and a standby time of 360 hours.
The Aura is very affordably priced at Rs.1690 that should make the handset well within the reach of people looking for a feature-packed, low end handset.
