Homegrown Android smartphones maker Intex has announced its plans to announce its next flagship Android powered device here in India. The yet to be officially named device will sport the new Mediatek MT 6592 chipset that houses an Octa Core processor inside its with each core running at 1.7 Ghz. It will also house the powerful Mali 450 GPU that is clocked at 700 Mhz.
The phone will come in two capacity variants – 16 and 32 GB with 2 GB of RAM. The camera on the device would be a 13 megapixel unit with the capability to capture videos in full HD. The front camera can also capture images at 5 megapixels. Intex also hints that device would be just 7mm thick and would feature a massive 6 inch HD IPS LCD display. Going in all metal finish, the device would also have a removable battery. Intex seems to be giving special consideration to the sound quality with the phone also housing dual Yamaha 1420 speakers. It would also come bundled with high-quality earphones – a thing most homegrown manufacturers have been missing out on.
The phone would come loaded with Android 4.2 and can be updated to KitKat as and when Intex releases an update for the same. And yes, like other sunch handsets, this one too would be dual SIM capable.
The MT 6592 chipset is a successor to Mediatek’s extremely successful MT 6589 series that have been powering a generation of powerful, low cost Android handsets across Asia. Most popular smartphones from homegrown phonemakers including the likes of Micromax Canvas HD, the Xolo Q1000s and a bunch of devices from Karbonn and Intex were all based on the 6589 chipset. Looks like this new chipset is ready to take over from its predecessor. It is clear that we would be hearing more from many of these companies in the days to come with their new Octa Core devices. Intex seems to be in a hurry however with this one. It would have been great had they announced this once the product was ready to be launched.
