Starting November 1, 2013, Apple’s newest iPhone models would make their official entry into the Indian market. The iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5c would be sold by both Airtel and Reliance who have in a individual press released hinted at the November 1 launch date. Airtel has in fact already started pre-booking for the iPhone. Interested users can go to any Airtel outlet and pre-register themselves. The current speculation in the market about the price range of the iPhone models vary from Rs 42,000 for the base iPhone 5c and Rs. 54,000 for the base iPhone 5S. This if true would be way more expensive compared to the SIM free prices of the same phones in the US where the 16GB iPhone 5c can be bought for Rs 34,700) while the iPhone 5s can be had for Rs 41,000. There is speculation that the top, high end variant can go over the 70k mark – which would be outright ridiculous.
The launch date of the iPhone 5s and the 5c is in line with Apple’s own official announcement last week saying that they would debut the new devices in more than a dozen new countries on November 1. One of the countries in this list was India. Of course, true to Apple tradition, they did not go ahead and reveal the prices of the same.
The Indian launch happens at a good time though as it is the eve of Diwali and this time of the year is when people actually have the tendency to splurge on new things. Diwali if you are not aware, falls on November 3.
So, you think you are ready to shell of over 50k for the new iPhone models?
