When Samsung had launched the Galaxy Tab in India a few months ago, we had loved the device but, had felt that at Rs 38,000, it was way overpriced. However, that price had been coming down, and some retailers like Flipkart had even been offering it at Rs 27,999, even though Samsung itself had stuck to a higher price tag. Well, it seems that Samsung has finally cottoned on to market sentiment. An advertisement in a prominent daily today reveals a new price tag for the Galaxy Tab – Rs 29, 299. Now, that certainly makes it a much better value for money deal.

Given that then iPad is nt yet official here and the grey marketnstillnholds at 30k or more, the tab now has a market. Olive pad might face the heat too,,, but the question is – is it too late?
Why can’t mtgs offer one best price throughout the year. While many would now wait for honeycomb, iPad 2 – the ones who paid 38k for this will sure feel cheated.
A very, very good point, Annkur. And one which once again brings to the fore how Apple is different – their devices might seem priced on the higher side but their prices do not dip for most of their life cycle. An iPad still begins at $499, even while we are on the verge of the iPad 2. Compare that with the high-end devices from other manufacturers whose prices dip spectacularly within weeks of their release.
As for the Galaxy Tab, yes, I think it is a classic case of too late. Sammy had a great chance to slay the iPad with a tab that offered a lot for a lower price. Missed chance?
