Karbon today launched the Agnee tablet in association with Innominds, which is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor at the Innovation Qualcomm India 2012 event.
The 3G tablet Agnee is based on a reference design by Qualcomm Technologies also referred to as QRD and runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM™7x27A processor. Innominds is credited with manufacturing the tablet completely in India, thus effectively making it India’s first indigenously designed 3G tablet.
The Karbonn AGNEE is a budget tablet aimed majorly at the student population in India. It is powered by QTI’s 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, has a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 800×480, runs on Android ICS OS with 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal memory and is expandable upto 32Gb via external microSD slot.
Connectivity options include HDMI, 3G HSPA, USB 2.0, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It has a 4000 mAh Li-Polymer battery which provides a backup of up to 5hrs.
There is no information on the availability or even the pricing of the tablet is yet to be announced. The name Agnee surely reminds one of the unsuccessful Aakash tablet which unfortunately did not take off as per the expectations of the HRD ministry in India.
We hope that the Agnee 3G tablet is a much better tablet as compared to both the Aakash iterations and their future is much better than the latter as well.
