Desi handset maker Karbonn Mobiles has announced the launch of four new low cost Android powered handsets in the market in a bid to rake in sales this festive season. These handsets, whose prices range from Rs. 5,500 to Rs.7,500 all come with decent spec sheets and have entry level features. The models include the A16, A99, A35 and the A90. Lets take a look at each one of them now
A16
The A16 features a 4-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display and packs in a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor. Under the hood is 512MB of RAM and 4of GB inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 32GB via micro SD cards. On the software front, this phone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and like other phones in its class, sports dual SIM capability. There is a 5 megapixel camera at the back for imaging needs and with a price tag of Rs. 6,490, this seems to be one decently priced 3G capable device.
A99
Next up is the A99 which is quite similar in features to the A16. This one too features a 4-inch screen with a 1.3 GHz dual-core processor. It runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and has a 5MP rear camera. The phone is priced Rs Rs 6,590. The only difference between this and the A16 seems to be the battery capacity. The A99 gets a 1400 mAH battery while the A16 romps home with a 1350 mAH one.
A90
The third handset to be announced was the A90 which will cost Rs.5490 and boasts of a 4-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen. It is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This dual SIM handset also gets a 5 megapixel camera with flash.
A35
Next in line is the most expensive and feature packed device of the new lot – the A35. Priced at Rs.7490, this phone boasts of a 5 inch display with a resolution of 540*960 pixels. Powering it is a 1 GHz dual-core processor supported by 512 MB worth of RAM. Internal memory is 4 GB with support for expandable memory. Apart from the 5 megapixel camera at the back, there is a 2 megapixel front camera as well. On the software front, this one too runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is unlikely that it would get updated to Jelly Bean.
