Karbonn Mobiles has in a press release announced the launch of its newest Android powered flagship smartphone, the Karbonn X. The handset was unveiled by Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Kapil Sibal earlier today.
The Karbonn Titanium X features a 5 inch, full HD, OGS panel. The phone is powered by a “1.5 GHz Quad-Core processor” which is most likely to be housed inside the MediaTek MT 6589T chipset – although the company hasn’t made this clear. There is 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a 2300 mAh battery under the hood – powering the device. Prima facie, there doesn’t seem to be a micro SD card provision for memory expansion. Moving on to the imaging front, there is a 13 megapixel rear camera as well a 5 megapixel front camera. The main camera will capture videos in full HD. Here is the complete spec sheet.
The Karbonn Titanium X happens to be a single SIM handset and will only accept micro SIM cards – quite unlike most other handsets in its range which apart from being dual SIM capable, also use the older mini SIM cards. Connectivity options include all the standard fare including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB. NFC also finds its way in.
On the software front, the phone will run a version of Android 4.2 JellyBean at launch. We should ideally see an official update to Android 4.4 eventually. The Titanium X has been priced at Rs. 18,490 which puts it in competition with the likes of the LG Optimus G Pro Lite, the Micromax Canvas Turbo and the Nokia Lumia 625.
