We all know that robots, specifically humanoids are going to be an important part of the future. And Kawada Industries has taken a step towards this future by developing a humanoid that will work along with the humans.
Aptly called Nextage, this humanoid is one of the few that has already been commercialized. The robot is equipped with high speed stereo cameras and its arms have 12 joints each that are placed within a distance of 30 microns from each other. In short these are very highly sophisticated robots that are designed to work with humans on complex tasks which require stability and precision.
Since working in close association with humans might lead to accidents, these humanoids have a pre-defined “safety distance” limit. And if any human enters that radius the robots will stop working immediately.
Kawada aims to develop such robots which work in sync with the humans on time consuming complex tasks and help increase their efficiency.
In the video below you can three networked Nextage robots in an exhibition in Tokyo working on assembling an electronic product without any human help.
