Kinect Inspired Motion Gaming / Interaction On Smartphones?

gestures on Mobile

Motion gaming is catching up in the gaming world and Microsoft took the technology to a new level with the Kinect for Xbox 360 last year. While speculations of motion sensing coming to Windows PCs are rife, we have a developer doing so already (seems like this was at MWC, but we just noticed it). XTR3D’s iZi app promises to bring motion interaction to your gadgets, be it a notebook, tablet or smartphone. And all this magic of gestures in the air to control your mobile computer or play a game can be enabled as per XTR 3D by just doing some software magic.

Cameras, Tablets and Notebooks have a front facing camera and iZi uses the same to deliver its goodness (yes the same 2D camera). XTR3D is currently doing a private beta test of iZi on laptops and claims that the technology works from 5cms to 5metres. The smartphone/tablet beta is expected to be out. They have a couple of teaser videos out (watch them after the break), but we wonder how long before it’s available for sale?
