On March 14th, when the rest of the tech world would be glued to see what Samsung would come up with as the successor to the Galaxy S III, homegrown manufacturer Lava who owns the Xolo brand is all set to launch its flagship device as well. That’s right. The Times Of India reports that Lava is readying to launch its newest Intel powered device, the Xolo. The company has apparently issued invites to an event being held at Goa – where the device would be unveiled. The invite talks about the release of the “Fastest smartphone ever with Intel Inside”.
According to reports, Lava internally calls the making of this phone “mission X” and is rumored to run a MedfieldZ2460 processor clocked at 2GHz. There are also rumors about this being based on the newer CloverTrail platform but that is not confirmed. Incidentally, the Motorola Razr i too is powered by the aforementioned Medfield chip and has been doing pretty well as far as benchmark tests are concerned. The Z2460 is a single core processor and supports hyperthreading as well. It is supported with an ample 2GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.
There is an 8 megapixel rear camera that can also take videos in full HD. I seriously hope they improve the camera on this one. The one on the earlier model, the X900 was decent but the video quality left a lot to be desired. The device would also run Android 4.1 JellyBean and sport a secondary 1.3 megapixel front camera.
Bring a flagship device; expect this one to be launched above the Rs. 20,000 mark. Like the Xolo X900 did with other handsets in its segment, this one too is expected to scorch through benchmark ratings and would be a value for money proposition. We hope to gather more details about this device in the days to come.
