Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has launched a new Android 4.4 KitKat based smartphone, extending their existing A-series line-up of affordable handsets.
Lenovo A536 will be sold at a price of Rs. 8,999 and it’ll be available in white and black colors on company’s online store (thedostore.com). The device will also sell in all exclusive Lenovo stores and retail outlets starting from today.
As with all smartphones in this price range, the A536 comes with a 5.0-inch (854 x 480 pixels) display. There’s a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera on the back with LED flash and a 2 megapixel front snapper. It’s powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6582) processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It offers 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The battery life is fueled by a 2000mAh Li-ion unit. Alongside Android 4.4 KitKat apps, Lenovo’s proprietary “DOit apps” will also be loaded on the device.
Interestingly, Lenovo’s A536 could face some serious competition from a product of the company they themselves acquired recently (Motorola). Other competitive devices include Lava Iris X1, Asus Zenfone 5 and the more affordable Micromax Unite 2. Also, selling only online, Chinese phone maker Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S comes at a much cheaper price while offering more power and features. Lenovo’s A536 will have to find it’s place in this muddled sea of affordable devices.
