Initial rumors had claimed that LG would be launching the LG G7 flagship phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. However, recent reports have revealed that LG would not be launching a new flagship at the MWC 2018. Instead, it will be announcing the LG V30s as an upgraded version of LG V30 that was launched in October last year.
According to Venture Beat, a person who is familiar with the plans of LG Mobile has revealed that the upcoming flagship phone from LG is codenamed as Judy. The LG Judy is unlikely to debut with LG G7 moniker and is speculated to wear a new design.
The LG G6 came with a 5.7-inch OLED screen, but the LG Judy is rumored to feature a larger display of 6.1 inches. It will be a Full Vision display that will deliver an aspect ratio of 18:9. The South Korean company will be introducing a new type of display technology called MLCD+ panel. It is capable of producing 800-nit brightness. Compared to traditional IPS LCD panel, it consumes 35 percent less power.
The Snapdragon 845 chipset is pegged to power the LG Judy along with 4 GB of RAM. It may include an internal storage of 64 GB. The dual rear cameras will be safeguarded by glass optical elements. It is expected to include a pair of 16-megapixel sensors with f/1.6 lenses.
The LG Judy will be sporting an IP68 certified chassis that will also offer military standard durability. It will be equipped with “Boombox” stereo speakers. Other features that will be arriving on the LG Judy phone include digital assistant, AI driven camera, voice recognition, wireless charging and HDR 10.
There may be a higher variant of the phone featuring 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Specs-wise, the LG Judy seems to be a worthy successor for the LG V30. It is speculated to debut in June this year, but it is unlikely to be available for purchase globally until summer this year. As of this writing, there is no information available on the price tag of LG Judy.
What do you think about the specifications of the LG Judy? Will it be any competition to the likes of upcoming flagship phones like Galaxy Note 9, iPhone 9 and Google Pixel 3 XL? Share us your views by posting your comments below.
