Days after Apple came out with its best iPhone ever, it is the turn of its supplier from South Korea to unveil its own Android powered flagship. That’s right. Worlds number 5 mobile phones maker LG has announced its newest Android laden handset that would soon enter the market. The LG Optimus G, as the handset is known, boasts of specifications that could even threaten the likes of the iPhone 5 the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X. Let’s now take a closer look at the Optimus G.
To start with, the Optimus G looks quite a bit like the previous generation Galaxy S II from Samsung with its boxy look. It boasts of a large 4.7 inch “True HD IPS+” display and boasts of a resolution of 1280*768. While it may be just slightly smaller than the display on the Galaxy S III it does have better resolution.
On to the processor now we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Quad core chip that runs at 1.5 Ghz doing the number crunching bit inside the Optimus G. This is at least on paper definitely faster than the dual core chips on the Galaxy S III. The International version of the Galaxy S III however sports its own quad core Exynos chip that has a clock speed of 1.4 Ghz. Pretty darn close! The LG Optimus G comes with a colossal 2 GB of RAM which should ensure that the device would be super smooth even whilst multitasking with heavy apps.
Moving on to the imaging bit, with its huge 13 megapixel camera sensor, the Optimus G steals the march over its competitors. That said, it is not just about megapixel counts any more. But hey, there is no denying the fact that the Optimus G has a kickass camera. The camera can also capture videos in full HD – as expected. It would be interesting to see how well this compares to the “improved” camera on the Nokia Lumia 920 which is also expected to make its debut at around the same time as the Optimus G does.
The Optimus G is expected to hit the shelves by November this year and carries an unsubsidized price tag of $894. Impressed?
