Just when you thought nobody has any interest left in developing apps for the Symbian platform, here comes LinkedIn with an official app for devices running on the OS! The official app is now available for download from the Ovi Store. Now, before you get all excited and rush to the Ovi Store to download this one, let me also inform you that this App is only available for Symbian^3 devices. This effectively means all those majority of users still using a Symbian^1 (S60V5) have been left in the lurch!
I am not sure why Nokia (or the developers of the app) thought this was a good idea. This, when the app was created using Qt – the cross platform application framework is outright perplexing. Anyway, if you are a lucky soul who happens to own a Symbian^3 handset, head to the Ovi Store to download the app.The Symbian version of the app is quite feature packed and lets you do almost everything the LinkedIn website can do. Here are a few screen shots.
Interesting features include the “Reconnect” screen that displays people that LinkedIn thinks you might know and of course the stats update option that can syndicate your status message as a tweet. That I think is pretty much it!
Got a Symbian^3 phone? You might want to download the app and let us know how good (or bad) the app is?
