Micromax, who has been on an aggressive product launch spree of late seems to be cooking up a new handset that would be placed between the hugely popular A110 Canvas 2 and the A116 Canvas HD. The device has made an “unofficial” appearance on the e-commerce website Saholic.com. From what we have noted from the specifications of the device, this one is likely to be a true successor to the Canvas 2 and would be positioned slightly below the newly launched Micromax A116 Canvas HD.
Moving on to the speculated features on the device, this one is likely to get a 5 inch 800*580 pixel display. Doing the number crunching bit would be a MediaTek MT65771 SoC that houses a 1 Ghz dual core processor. There would be 1 GB of RAM as well as 4 GB of on-board memory which you can of course increase further using micro SD cards. The camera at the rear can click 8 megapixel snaps and can also handle HD video. There is a secondary 2 megapixel camera at the front as well. Connectivity wise, the phone is pretty well balanced with support for BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and USB.
In short, the device seems to be a minor update to the A110 and is targeted at users who do not wish to spend the extra dough and go for the A116. The aim would also be to wean away users who might have thought of opting for spending a bit more and getting a Galaxy Grand by giving them a bunch of options at a much lower price point.
Note that at this point in time, the existence of the Micromax A115 is based on rumors and an unconfirmed listing. Micromax – as expected is tight lipped about this phone. But we expect more news regarding this new device to be leaked in the next few days.
