The console wars are well and truly on and Microsoft has decided to hammer the opposition where it truly hurts – on the price front. While Sony has been upping the PS3 storage without trying to add too much to its price, Microsoft has jumped right in with a 4GB Xbox 360 with a Kinect port – yes, it looks exactly the same as the recently launched black one and has five USB ports and inbuilt Wi-Fi – for a price of Rs 14,990, which is about Rs 5,000 lower than any of the PS3s in the market right now. And for meritorious measure, the price of the sheer bare bones Xbox 360 Arcade has been slashed to a staggeringly low Rs 11,990, making it the perfect next-gen console for those on a slim budget (you can add storage and all to it later!!) or those looking to hand out Diwali gifts to game crazy friends and relatives.
Honestly, we love Microsoft’s strategy as it honestly makes gaming mainstream, especially with the Kinect looming large on the horizon. Come on, Sony, slash those PS3 prices. And Nintendo, can we please get the Wii for a more reasonable price or don’t you want to sell ANY consoles in India?
