At 8 P.M. IST, Microsoft is going to pull the wraps off the sequels to last year’s Surface and Surface Pro tablets. Due to leaks over the past few weeks, we already know pretty much all there is to know about the event. Microsoft is going to release three new Surface devices this year, two of which, Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 shall be unveiled tonight, while the Surface Mini shall be unveiled at a later date.
The Surface 2
The Surface 2 will reportedly feature an Nvidia Tegra 4 processor along with a 10.6″ ClearType Full HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080. It will also have a full size USB 3.0 port, Bluetooth 4.0, HD video out port and a microSD card slot. Similar to last year’s model, it will have a kickstand and both front and rear facing cameras. It will run Windows RT 8.1 and will come pre-installed with Office Home and Student 2013. It is rumoured to cost $499, but the price isn’t confirmed.
The Surface Pro 2
The Surface Pro 2, on the other hand, will come with a Haswell Core i5 processor with a choice of RAM and flash storage options. It will be pretty similar to its younger sibling in terms of the other specs with a ClearType Full HD display, USB 3.0 etc. Though it will also come with a digital Pro Pen and Windows 8.1 installed. It is rumoured to cost $899.
Surface Accessories
Microsoft is also going to launch a slew of accessories at today’s event, including new Power Covers which will grant the tablets more battery life.
