More details on Palm Pre 2 specs, HP.com to sell unlocked version

The Palm Pre 2 is the latest webOS powered smart phone and currently the talk of the town for Palm fans. The first Palm device coming out after the HP takeover isn’t the most attractive one in terms of the hardware and we have already put up our case defending the same. However, confirming the fact that the Pre 2 is targeted more at developers than consumers, a senior manager from HP Palm (Tim Pettitt) has revealed that HP would sell unlocked GSM versions of Pre 2 on its site. The pricing for the same is still unknown, and we are pretty sure that apart from the expected webOS tablet, we would also hear of a mainstream smart phone from Palm at either CES 2011 or MWC 2011.

Palm Pre 2 - Webos

For now we know that the Pre 2 features a gorilla glass on its display, the 5MP camera is neatly optimized for picture quality and the 1GHz processor is the Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 along with 512MB RAM. The point of worry for me is the 1150mAh battery which is the same as the Pre and Pixi. Having used the Pre, I honestly doubt the battery performance unless some magic potion has been poured on webOS 2.0.
