Motorola unveiled the second generation of their cheapest smartphone, the Moto E, in the USA. The phone will be launched in India soon and will come in a 3G and 4G variant. Motorola has exclusively partnered with Indian e-commerce giant to sell all their devices since a while now and they continue to do so with this phone too. Today an official tweet from Flipkart stated that the phone will soon be available in India for Rs. 6,999. This is the price for the 3G model and the 4G model is expected to come out later. The cost of the 4G variant will be expected to be below Rs. 9,000.
Last year when Motorola brought out the Moto E in the markets it took everyone by surprise as no one thought that and international brand would launch a phone with decent specifications at such a low price. But this time around that surprises is dead as many other companies are offering value for money dweices. Lenovo’s A6000 is a 4G enabled phone and sells for as low as Rs. 6,999. Also the Yu Yureka for Rs. 8,999 is a very good deal.
The new Moto E has a 4.5 inch display with the resolution of 960×540 pixels. It runs on 1.2GHz processor and is packed with 1GB of RAM. The rear camera has a 5 Megapixel sensor while the sensor on the front camera is of 0.3 Megapixel. The device is powered by a 2390 mAh battery.
The phone ships with Android Lollipop. After Moto many companies followed suit and promise to update devices. In fact, recently Intex launched the Aqua Star L and it is the first phone from an Indian manufacturer to be shipped with Android Lollipop. The biggest selling point for Moto is their updates to latest version of Android. The Moto X (2nd Gen) and the Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen) have got the update to Android Lollipop (5.0). They have even started testing the update for the Moto E (1st Gen). Sadly, users of the Moto X (1st Gen) are yet to receive the update but Motorola has confirmed that it will be rolled out as soon as possible.
