Motorola has been in the Android game for quite some time now. Along with high end handsets from the Milestone series, it has also concentrated on the low cost, mid range Android segment of phones priced below the Rs.15k mark. Back in October, they brought the XT3 to India which boasted of features like a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen, integrated GPS and WiFi and a 3.2MP camera. Two months later, its the turn of the XT5, a better version of the XT3 to be announced.
The XT5 runs Android 2.1 (not Froyo) and in India, comes with offers from Aircel which we would be detailing later . Motorola has also come up with an offer wherein you get an adidas jacket and two pairs of movie tickets with the phone.
The XT5 is featurewise similar to the XT3 – except for the better 5 megapixel camera. It is quite a slim handset at just 12.5mm and tips the scales at 114grams. The display is a 3.2 inch affair capable of displaying stuff at 320 x 480 pixels. The screen is capacitive in nature. Navigation is using a small trackball at the bottom. The better camera on the XT5 comes with digital zoom and LED flash for decent low light photography.
The phone has been made available on Aircel at a Best Buy price of Rs 13,990. The phone comes with a 2GB SD micro SD card as well as the option to choose from the following offers from Aircel:
- Get an Aircel Prepaid connection and get up to 9GB worth of data download to be consumed in three months. This plan also offers 150 Aircel to Aircel local minutes free.
- The second offer gives users on a postpaid connection up to 1GB per month download for six months.
The MRP of the phone is Rs.15,990. Like we mentioned earlier, the Best Buy price is 13,990. At the best buy price, the XT5 is one of the cheapest Android phones with a 5 megapixel camera.
