Tablets are the flavor of 2010 and it seems that no one except Apple has got any great momentum in this segment so far. While a lot of Android based pads have been displayed and a lot of Windows 7 / Win CE / WebOS / Chrome OS based tablets have made some noise – its a fact that we are yet to see a killer product out there. Samsung, HP and other players like Notion Ink and Olive are doing their bit and a new name we can add to the list is Motorola. There has been buzz of Motorola working on an iPad killer before but we haven’t really seen anything yet. Latest rumors suggest a Verizon and Motorola tie up for a tablet that does television as well! Other details include Tegra 2 chip, 1GHz processor and a 10″ screen. However a very interesting bit revealed by Intomobile is the wait for Android 3.0 aka Gingerbread. Apparently Gingerbread which would be a major update to Android before year end (speculated) would bring in lot of UI upgrades and hopefully support for larger screen resolution (current limit is 854×480).
The only concern we have is the approaching date for an iPad refresh. Sometime in Jan 2011 we should expect an iPad refresh (or may be before?). So would these new revolutionary tablets bring something to the table that can hold up against the iPad 2nd gen?
