The Motorola Xoom did create a lot of buzz since its launch, equipped with 1GHz NVIDIA’s Dual Core Tegra 2 Processor. Just few weeks ago we heard about the Xoom being over clocked up to 1.5 GHz and now; it has reached a new height of 1.6 GHz. The credits certainly goes to the people at XDA Developers Forum, who have developed a new custom Kernel Rom to do so which enables the use of high end applications without facing lags.
The extra clock speed ensured that the Xoom zoomed over 4000 in the Quadrant benchmark app, in comparison to the 1500 with its standard clock speed. Achieving such speeds like 1.5 GHz, 1.6 GHz is certainly remarkable for Tablets as such speeds previously were achievable only for PC’s.
Over-clocking certainly will pull down its battery life, and do we really care for such raw performance in real world? Not Really. But then its nice to see the hardware being stretched so far. Now some better apps please?
