HTC has announced three new phones from its much rumored (and leaked) “One” line up at the Mobile World Congress yesterday. The new devices that have been announced include the HTC One X, the One S and the One V. We take a quick look at the One X here.
The One X, as the name suggests is the top of the line handset from this series and packs in quite a punch. For starters, it runs Android 4.0 with a new version of HTC Sense running atop it. The display on this one is a huge 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 panel with a resolution of 1,280×720-pixels. It gets the now standard coating of Gorilla Glass for scratch resistance. The phone maintains a slim profile and is just 9.27-millimeter across.
For all you imaging buffs, there is an 8 megapixel camera at the back that supports five levels of LED flash and automatic focus. The phone can capture videos in 1080p HD. This is of course apart from the 1.3-megapixel camera front camera which can also shoot videos at 720p! Also on board is Beats Audio which we have seen in a few HTC handsets in the past. We could go on about the camera on this device which is definitely a huge improvement but then the Nokia 808 PureView simply obliterated every other camera related announcements.
Powering the One X is a 1.5GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor – making it one of the first quad core processor toting phones. It has a 1,800mAh battery powering it which for some reason I feel is grossly insufficient. The phone supports Bluetooth 4.0 and almost all other connectivity options except for NFC. With 32 GB of onboard memory, HTC has decided to skip a memory slot – which many users might not fancy. To keep that bunch happy, HTC has tied up with Dropbox and are offering 25GB of online storage.
The American LTE version of the phone would not get the Tegra 3 quad core Chip because of the fact that it doesn’t support LTE. The Yank version, for the same reason would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.
There has been no official pricing or launch declarations – however it is likely that the device would be on sale within 60 days from now.
