Today, Acer is doing a presentation in Beijing, China, and the very first thing at the show was the sighting of a 7-inch Android Tablet. Although, it looks like there is still a lot of time for Chrome OS devices from Acer we are very sure that we will see more of Android tablets from the company.
Although, CEO Gianfranco Lanci was very keen on not revealing any specs, the tablet was described to be pretty fast with sensitive touch capabilities. Looking at the tablet closely, you can see that below the screen there is some shiny space, well that is the physical QWERTY keyboard which it has to offer, and I think that it is a smart move given that the size of this thing is smaller than the iPad, typing with the thumbs on the QWERTY would be much easier. Mr Lanci also said that we can expect the tablet to hit the stores in Q4 this year, dismissing Acer’s own word of not entering the tablet market (to be fair, this ain’t really a tablet but a mash of a smartphone and tablet).
According to what Lanci said, it looks like tablet will be available across various network operators, and this Android-based Acer Tablet will also have a 3G model. Guess this one would go head on with the Dell Streak if not the iPad!
